so, i recently stumbled on to this [url]http://www.gimilsim.com//url]

it is a bunch of 'new' (they are .50 cal versions of alot of SP markers and one mag fed marker, 20rd mags) paintball markers firing a new .50 cal paintball. the word is that these things are just as, if not more, accurate than .68 cal, they will cost alot less (i think i remember reading somewhere around $25 to $30 a case), and they supposedly hurt alot less and dont leave as much of a bruise, but still leave a large, visible splat and do it all at 280-300 fps.

have any of you guys heard of these things? personally, i think that this will go the way of RAP4 and their .43 cal. i just cant see it really catching on except in a few isolated areas.

what is your take on it?

I'll take a look, you might be right about them going the way of the Rams though.

In my opinion, a complete waste of time  The only reason for going with less that .68cal is the ability to make a more real looking marker. Why would anyone want a hopper fed .50 cal marker?????

hmmm... we (mag fed milsimmers) are in the minority so the hopper argument doesnt hold much water

problem i see is the 50 cal paint: betamax might be better than vhs but if everyone already has vhs, being better dont mean a thing...

that and the markers look cack, adding picatinny rails and painting it black smells of a marketing afterthought

yeah, hiro, i was thinking along the same lines. not many people are going to want to buy all new gear to use the new balls (although i heard that some larger companies may make conversion kits if this thing takes off).

that and the 'less pain' thing is a turn off for me. i like that paintballs hurt. i dont like the pain, but i like the adrenaline from it, and the threat of the pain causes you make quick decisions to avoid it. if the pain isnt there, then i'd turn into the governator and just march up the field :D
